Baby in a Fish Bowl

This is Silver in her sling. The sling has really changed her! I don't know what kind of life she had in her 1-3 years of life before the animal shelter. She had been held, but she didn't like it and was very hard to pick up and hold. Except at the vet, where she got as close as possible to me and was quiet.

The sling was custom made for her by Theresa of BabyinaFishBowl. She makes custom baby slings, but was willing to make one for a rabbit. We emailed back and forth a lot to make sure it was good for Silver. After that, it only took about a week to arrive in CA from NY.
Silver decided the sling was hideous and fought like crazy for about 45 seconds. Then she decided the sling was cozy and settled down for a long (for her) sling rest.

It feels totally different to hold a rabbit who is relaxed and rests her head on your arm, compared to one who is tense and rigid.

The amazing thing is that with only a few sling rests, she has become much easier to handle, even for nail clipping. She is willing to sit on people briefly without the sling, and yesterday, came out of the sling and snooped around a bit before coming back to me to get back in the sling. The sling has totally changed this bun.

Well, not totally, she still bothers the cats.

Aaahhhh...I stay away for a couple of days and you go all "postal" on me...lol!!!

Janow is one handsome horse. I was thinking about what type of horse I would own if I could have any horse in the world (prompted by Pony Girls last post), and I have decided that it would probably be something Spanish.

I love the part on the movie 'Gladiator' where Russel Crowe rides around on a prancing, snorting, handsome, gray beast in the arena. THAT is what I want...an Andalusian (I know that Janow is a Lippizan)named Maximus...lol!!!

Enough about horses...I love your bunny!!! How cute is she (he)?

Cara-
What a nasty sounding accident you were in!!! Hopefully you are all healed from it? Good thing that you had all of that insurance to help foot the bill.

Thanks for visiting my blog recently. I'm glad that I was able to visit yours tonight, too :)

Silver is such a cutie! I'm very impressed that you are so concerned about her that you would try a sling.

I bet you are also into attachment parenting, too?
I think it really does make a world of difference.

I used to help rescue and find homes for lagamorphs actually.
At one time I owned 5 bun buns, all inside, litterbox bunnies.

We are bunnyless now, though.
I've enjoyed reading about your pretty Silver. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting about the horse I rescued. Each day with him is a gift and I'm sure he is going to make it!

What an adorable bunny you have ... and in a sling. How cute is that?!

And that is a mighty handsome horse you have there!
