Houston, we have a problem.

Our dishwasher broke. It's OK, we will live. The new one comes on Wednesday. Meanwhile we wash dishes by hand. "We?"

I plugged the drain and added hot water and soap. I washed. Dave asked: "Do you want me to dry these?"

"No, they need to be rinsed first, but I'm done washing, you can take over and rinse."

"OK.
"We have another problem.....the sink isn't draining."

"That's because I plugged it up to wash the dishes."

"I knew that."

Training

Here is Janow in his first training session with Roger.
It was going to be a walking ground driving session in which Roger was going to test out the training that I had done and see how Janow's temperament would be to train. It progressed to trotting in circles and then to leg yielding along the rail in both directions.

Then the sled came out so Janow could see it being dragged while he worked.

Janow was doing well so far, so he actually got to pull the sled, which was no problem either.

A very successful day.

The Voyage

Janow's Journey went just fine. He arrived in his temporary digs and formed and instant bond with a white pony mare whose name is Sunbeam, if I recall correctly. Lots to do and see, lots of screaming to be done. I will go out there this morning. Roger is going to ground drive him and test out the work I have done. I will take my camera.

Janow leaves today

Janow leaves for Knightsen today. Maureen is taking him. I was hoping the trailer would be done before the winter rains set in, but they have set in. The rains I was originally concerned with were the rains of winter '09. He is going here for a month. It is about an hour and 20 minutes by car.

I have begun taking a new medication to prevent migraine headaches. I was very hopefully. Twenty five mg for 7 days,
50 mg for 7 days,
75 mg for 7 days,
finally 100 mg is the lowest effective dose and you have to take that for 2 months or so before it becomes effective.

By the time I got up to 100 mgs per day, I was in so much pain because all my joints became inflamed, and I was so tired I could hardly move, but my thought processes were so adversely effected that I was not really able to say "Hay, this medication is bad." Now I am going back down in the dose. I can't stop cold turkey without risking seizures. I may be a normal person again soon.

More New Pads

Here are two more new pads. The carrot pads are going faster than I thought. Both dressage are gone, leaving only the two all purpose.
We didnt need to have the transmission rebuilt after all, or worse yet, buy a new car. It was just a bad sensor. Whew!

The weather is turning fast! The Crane Project is not done! Can I squeeze it in?

I am having trouble with my internet connection. It involves ports and cables and furniture and computers as well as interpersonal relationships and nueroses. Things were easier back in the day when fire and the wheel were hot.

There are two more of these:These are both dressage. They are 35.00 until October 31st. On November 1st, they go up to $45.00, if, that is, If get around to updating my website on that day. Pretty big "if," if you ask me!

Buntastic Carrots and Pumpkins

These are some things I finished up this week. I made four of the Jack saddle pads, three sold already.

They are batik on cotton twill. It's a bit heavier than cotton broadcloth. The carrots are also batik on cotton twill. They are $35.00 until October 31, Then the carrots go up to $45.00. The Jack stays at $35 if still unsold, but he will probably hang around in inventory until next year. Shipping is $9.00 to US, Canada and US Armed Forces Overseas.

There are more carrots on the way.

This primitive sweatshirt is size XL, Fruit of the Loom Heavy Cotton. Hand dyed fabirc collage, the texture is fantastic and it will get comments everywhere you go! It's $53.00, $6.00 shipping. You'd pay twice that much at a whine and cheese festival. Really.

California Buckeye

This is my favorite tree.

It's the buckeye tree at Indian Hill.
I get to ride past it every day and see how it changes through the seasons. In the fall, it looks the strangest right after the leaves fall off, leaving only the buckeyes, which is any day now. The husk will peel off the buckeyes, then a big wind will come and blow off all the buckeyes.
The buckeyes are about the size of golf balls.

There are many buckeye trees up Mt Hmailton Road through Grant Ranch and on up the mountain. They are the first to trun in the fall, and the ones closest to the top of the mountain turn first. They are the first to leaf out in the spring too.

Pictures, for Mom

Here are the birthday pictures for Mom. She is too far away, so there should be enough pictures here to make it almost feel like she was here.

Tha Haul. The card table for the tower was too big to wrap. It should be easy to get up the hill, and not too much trouble to get from the top to the bottom as needed with a block and tackle on the eaves to pull it up and down the outside.

I dsaved money on wrapping paper. This is propane. Joseph says he could have saved money on that too, he always has extra gas.

I see stupid people reading my shirt

Harriet, famous for combining cutitude and dignity.

Graham, a young gentleman bun waiting in the animal shelter in Oakland, CA. The shelter invites people to bring their only bun down for a bonding session to see how nice Graham is and how much their bun needs to have Graham come live at their house. Isn't he a nice gentle toasty color?

Hershey is waiting at the shelter in Oakland, just in case your only bun wants a girl Cutie Agouti instead of a boy, then Hershey wants to come live at your house. She promises to shed only a little and not the chew good stuff on Sundays. Look at those ears! Squee!
