I'm back

Finally finished backing up and getting snapshots ready to send out. I waited too long. Lots of other stuff has been happening. Frantic on our end, but boring to tell about.

Joseph told me, Monday night, that he had to make a 3-D model of the Roman Coliseum, due Thursday. That's not a lot of time. Scouts is Monday and Tuesday was new student orientation at the Middle School. Even without those things, three days to make a model of the Roman Coliseum is not long at all. So, he didn't do a model. I helped him make this mosaic. I had to shop for the materials while he was in school. Working parents could not do this. The concept was mine. He did most of the sticking. We used Avery peel and stick labels, colored with watercolor paints. It was easier than putting glue on each piece and it went pretty fast.

I have been trying to get some stuff done too.

Chicken Score Anxiety

He ran into the room saying "I got a credit score! I got a credit score!" That saves us about $9,000.

We got a new chicken. Somebody knew somebody who had chick that were hatched out in a kindergarten class. One is now with us. I was holding her yesterday to make sure she is used me so I can handle her when she is grown. She kept falling asleep and her little head would dangle down. We put her in with Paula after dark, so they could wake up together and be fine. But they were not. Paula went over to her at dawn and started pecking her. So I put Paula out and left her in.

Middle school anxiety is setting in. Everybody take a deep breath. You can let it out again in August.

Overheating

We are having a hot spell here. We are used to perfect weather. The kind of weather where you don't need air conditioning, so we don't have it. It's been to hot for my laptop, so I can only use it in the wee hours. Too hot for batik wax outside too. Also too hot for Chica, who died yesterday after laying an egg. She hadn't layed an egg in a long time.

I am still trying to get my snapshots together. Nearly there. When I am done, I will upload them to Snapfish and then store them on a disk before I delete them from my hard drive. After that, I will upload the pictures of how my projects are progressing. I have been taking them, but I am trying to clear the clutter and haven't wanted to add to it in the process.

We are planning a trip to Monterey for Joseph's birthday. He has been wanting to go to the Maritime Museum there for a while. I thought it would be adventurous to go for an overnight stay in a hotel for his birthday, so we are going there. I looked up the museum on the web and found that it is mostly sailing, with a little WW2. I don't think the sailing would interest him much, he is mostly interested in military stuff. But.....there is a Presidio Museum in Monterey.......

I have also been reading a book: Someone Comes To Town, Someone Leaves Town, by Cory Doctorow. A very odd book, but you care about the characters, at least some of them. Or so I thought. Then, around page 234, everything changed for me and I knew who they were. Who they were for me. I don't know who Mr Doctorow meant them to be, but I know who they are to me.

The last page of the book says:"The text of this book is available as a free Creative Commons-licensed download at http://craphound.com/someone. I haven't looked there, but I read it for free the old way---from the library.

Tack Swap at the Ranch

Indian Hill Ranch in Milpitas is hosting a tack swap today. I am taking some saddle pads and some T-shirts. Also some used tack, or course!

This is interesting.

This is interesting.

and then......

I am still working on the same projects as before. I haven't finished anything, but I haven't started anything new either.

The quilt show was fun. Several people asked me about the pattern for the saddle pads. The 'pattern' is a piece of paper the size I want to make them, and I trace around it. There is not a purchased pattern with instructions. I think they were disappointed. I hope, anyway.

I hoped to have more pads done by the Indian Hill Tack Swap on Saturday. I don't think so. It isn't that important anyway.

I am going through all the family snaps, formatting for upload to snapfish and then to prints. Then I can store them on CD. Then I can take them off my hard drive. Then my computer will run faster. I hope. There are a lot. It is taking a long time. I don't like to do it.

Heck.

Silver is having a good week. Read her blog at

She has pictures.

WIP and Show

Here is Silver. She has some serious redeye.
Here is how things are progressing.

The quilt show starts today and I am signed up to white glove from 10:00 to 12:00. That's the opening shift. I am looking forward to seeing how the pads are viewed. Yesterday I was there for a bit during set-up. There were some stupendous quilts going up!

I think I am making progress on the Google Checkout deal thing.

This week was my first ETSY sale.
