Hip Hop

My son's Hip Hop Class performed at Family Day at the Milpitas Community Center. They did great. They were great!

Each age/ability group performed seperately, then the two highest groups performed freestyle together. Each dancer short turns to show off their best moves.



Joseph and Tajel, who is also in his 5th grade class at Pomeroy, went together one time to show something they call "Baby Freeze"





I made the shirts for their class. I silk screened them, which was an interesting experience, but probably not one I will to do again. I wouldn't refuse, but there are more fun things to do if you're going to make shirts.

vIgajbe' pIch--It's not my fault

Well, the trip to Golfland Arcade with the Easter egg hunt tokens yeilded 1500 prize tickets for a giant stuffed bear. I took a picture of the bear, but haven't uploaded from the camera yet.

I also finished my Spring Swap ornie and need to take a picture of that. It came out so primitively grungy, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm not very experienced at grunging primitive things, but I got the queen of grunge as my swap partner and I think I did OK.


I also made this Klingon shirt for Joseph's Museum Project. His 5th/6th grade class is making a museum of languages for the open house. They have been working on it all year. Each student is researching a different language and maiking a museum display. Joseph is doing his on Klingon.

The students voted and chose to do it in costum. Of course, a Klingon costume is a big trekkie item and would be major $$, and not really nessesary, but a trekkie T-shirt should do. So I made this one. It says "vIgajbe' pIch" which is Klingon for "I didn't do it." or "It's not my fault." or "I don't posess blame."


It should be "pIch vIgajbe'" but I messed up. I don't think there are enough Klingon speakers in Milpitas that it will make a difference.

Andinkra Project

Here are samples I made with the Jaquard fabric paints I ordered for the 5th 6th grade T-shirt fundraiser. They are going to stamp Andinkra designs on the shirts for themselves and to sell.

These are on muslin. I made Andikra symbol stamps, as well as some patterns and shapes from different materials.

I made these to get a better feel for washes using this paint, and so the kids could see what they look like and how they look like when they are stamped on.

I made notes on the fabric of the colors and tecniques I used.

I made some on black fabric using the metallic paints.

For the backgrounds I used different things to stamp on textures. After that dired I stamped on top of that with some of the stamps I made.
I also made strips of black and white Kona cotton sewn together with a sample of each color on it. I didn't take pictures of those, they were boring.

I obtained 72 new blank T-shirts in a mix of black and white and different sizes. Joseph and Dave and I pre-washed them to remove sizing and pre-shrink them and then folded them all and put them back in the box.

Monday, I go to the classroom to demonstrate techniques so the students can get a feel for what they will be doing.
